The Indic Society for Education and Development (INSEED)

Education

One of the primary aims of the Society is to take education to those who can not go where the education is provided. This activity focuses on those who migrate for work, their children, children living in slums and other children for whom school is still a distant dream. A non-formal education is adopted when educating out-of-school children and special emphasis is placed on mathematics, languages, sports, crafts, music and social skills. Adult education is also undertaken to improve the literacy rate. Educating children and women about home economics is of special interest to the Society.

Founding of libraries, reading rooms and children's libraries are a part of this activity. Towns and villages are identified which have library buildings but the libraries are non-functional. With the help of the local people, the Society undertakes the task of making the library functional and employs local people for its day-to-day functions. Also, mobile libraries are being thought of so as to reach those people whose travel options are limited. The Society encourages donation and collection of used toys and books for the purpose of education and use in the libraries.
